General provisions
Awarding PADI Specialty Instructor qualification expands the range of possibilities of the instructor. Now he can teach not only main PADI courses: Open Water Diver, Advanced, Rescue and Divemaster but special courses as well within which the divers train specialization and learn to make night, deep dives and dive on wreck .
There are a number of special courses in the PADI training system which can be conducted after getting a PADI Specialty Instructor certificate in the given field. A plan and instructional manuals for the students have been developed for each special course. Besides, both a PADI instructor and instructor’s assistant may develop their own special course (Distinctive Specialty) and get a permit to teach it after confirmation in PADI.

If you are instructor’s assistant or an instructor already you can get a PADI Specialty Instructor qualification. For this it is required to get training within the program Specialty Instructor Training from the course director or to write an application directly to PADI. Within a Specialty Instructor Training course you will get useful practical advice, find out how to demonstrate exercises correctly how to arise student’s interest to one or another special course, familiarize with PADI standards of a given program and if it is required you’ dive in open water.
